White Ash  Lumber

White Ash lumber possesses decent strength properties for its weight and is shock resistant. It has high elasticity which makes it a popular choice for bows and steam bending projects. Applying a stain to White ash lumber produces a similar look to Red Oak. White Ash lumber trees are currently under attack from invasive emerald ash borer in the US. This has steadily increased the price and reduced the availability of wider stock. While the heartwood is pale brown, grayish brown, light brown, or pale yellow streaked with brown. The color may also be cream to very light brown, occasionally with a reddish tinge. White Ash is a ring porous hardwood and is fairly hard, heavy, and very tough. Ash features a light colored, nearly white sapwood; heartwood is typically tan or light brown. Ash has excellent bending and finishing qualities.

Standards that are supported:

•     ( A grade )- 4 sides clear – is the highest class quality.The timber is clean, flawless (without knots and / or hearts).
•     (AB grade) – 4 sides clear – on one side of the piece of timber found traces of hearts healthy and / or a healthy node.
•     ( BC grade) – 3 sides clear – allowed red heart, knots, bends and small cracks.

Heat treatment: Steaming light 10-12 hours, uniform color. Drying: KD, KD 8-12% Markings: timber is packed with one length in the bundle and can have markings at customer request.
